In-depth insights into the micro-level Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (microAKIS) of farmers in different countries and areas of innovation

In this section you will find the Country Reports that were prepared by all the AgriLink partners involved in Work Package 2 (Innovation Case Studies). These reports provide in-depth insights into the micro-level Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (microAKIS) that support farmer’s decision-making about the uptake of different forms of innovation. The reports place a particular emphasis upon the role played by farm advisors.

A total of 32 case studies were conducted in 13 European countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Each case study addresses a specific area of agricultural innovation selected from the following themes:

  • Autonomous vehicles, robots, drones, intelligent sensors and precision farming
  • Biological pest control
  • Soil improvement 
  • Retro-innovation (re-creation, re-invention and re-introduction of traditional products / crops)
  • Introducing new crops’ (legumes, superfoods, heathy seeds, etc.)
  • Developing new activities’ (recreation, healthcare, wild resources, renewable energy, etc.)
  • Direct marketing and local products
  • Common management of natural resources (water, grazing, forest, etc.)
  • Innovative labour arrangements
