Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS)
businesses whose primary inputs and outputs are various forms of knowledge.
Learning
the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience or being taught.
Living Laboratory (Lab)
a partnership in which businesses, authorities, citizens and other relevant stakeholders work together to create, validate, and test new services, business ideas, markets and technologies in real-life-contexts.
Micro-level Agricultural Knowledge and Information System (micro-AKIS)
the personal knowledge system that farmers construct / assemble for themselves, including the range of individuals, organisations and networks from which they seek services and exchange knowledge with.
SCAR (the European Commission’s Standing Committee on Agricultural Research)
the committee of experts that advises the European Commission and EU Member States on the strategic planning and coordination of agricultural research and the development of research capacities.
SCAR AKIS SWG (SCAR AKIS Strategic Working Group)
a sub-group of the European Commission’s Standing Committee on Agricultural Research that advises specifically on issues relating to agricultural knowledge and innovation, including the future of farm advisory services.
Sustainable agriculture
practices which are economically viable, environmentally beneficial and provide wider benefits to society, whilst not limiting the potential of future generations to meet their own food production needs.
